Clear The Mind

Our entire experience and quality of life hinges on our ability to clear and control the mind. Many of us believe that our happiness is dependent on outside factors and on what happens to us. This however is not true. Rather, our happiness depends on the way we react to what happens to us. And the same goes for every other aspect of our experience too: your stress levels are a result of the way you react to events, and your ability to be productive depend on your reactions too.

Don’t believe me?

To prove it, let’s imagine that you’re in a caravan and it’s hanging over the edge of a cliff. If you move too much then it’s going to topple over the edge into a ravine. If you are aware of this situation, then in all likelihood you will be riddled with fear. Your heart rate will increase, your blood vessels will dilate, your muscles will contract and you will start breathing quickly. You’ll sweat and your mind will be all over the place.

But now let’s imagine that you’re in the very same situation but you believe that you can fly. In that case, you’ll probably sit happily reading and not worry all too much about your precarious position! As you can see here, your belief about the situation and about the events is what is in control of not just your mood – but your very physiology. And guess which person is more likely to survive this situation without letting the caravan fall?

Now don’t get this twisted: I am not here to tell you that holding completely deluded beliefs is the way forward! And nor should you convince yourself you can fly. But this is merely a demonstration of the power of the mind and of your beliefs.

Now if you imagine yourself in another more realistic setting you can see how your beliefs can change the way you react. Let’s say you’re standing up on stage and you’re about to give a speech in front of lots of people.

Some of us don’t believe we can fly. Some of us think that we’re going to say the wrong thing, that we’re going to stutter and that people are going to laugh at us! We thus begin to panic and guess what? Our blood vessels dilate, our muscles contract and our heart rate goes up. Our mind begins to race which makes us more likely to make mistakes and our throat becomes dry and hoarse. The irony is that the speech is much more likely to go wrong simply because we’re worried that it might!

And now imagine the same scenario but where you believe it’s going to go well, or where you just aren’t bothered about what other people might think. This kind of calm mindfulness is going to help you to act as though there isn’t even an audience there!
Again, it is your reaction to the event that is going to keep stress at bay. And it’s not just these acutely stressful situations that can benefit from mindfulness and calmness either.

Imagine for example that you come home from work and you can’t stop thinking about the last thing your boss/client/colleague said to you.

Then you wonder if you sent that important last email…

How present are you going to be when you get home? How much are your family likely to enjoy spending time with you?

Imagine that you are on a great holiday but all you can think about is whether or not you left the oven on at home. How much do you think you’ll enjoy the incredible views of mountains going past your window?

Imagine that you’re in the gym and your mind is thinking about the computer game you were playing last night, or X Factor. Do you really think that you’re going to be capable of exerting maximum force in that workout?

My aim is to help you to take back control over your mind and in doing this, you’re also going to be taking back control over your emotions and your feelings. The end result is that you’re going to be able to become completely present in any given moment and completely ‘mindful’, thereby abandoning unhelpful concerns, stressors and emotions.

Mindfulness meditation means that you are meditating in such a way as to become more aware of your own thoughts and feelings. In other forms of meditation – such as transcendental meditation – ask the person to try and completely clear their mind, often by focussing on a single point in space, or perhaps a sound or a word (this is called a ‘mantra’ and it is why we imagine Buddhist monks to hum as they meditate!).

The difference with mindfulness is that you aren’t trying to eradicate your thoughts but rather you are trying to simply ‘watch them’ as they float past you. The idea is that you are becoming aware of the kinds of things you normally think but you aren’t engaging with them and you aren’t letting them affect you. The description is often that you should watch them pass by ‘like clouds in the sky’. Do this for a while and then write down the content of some of those thoughts. Look at the things you stress about and worry about on a regular basis and reflect on them in an objective, disconnected manner – nonjudgmentally.

Some of these will be things that you are going to worrying about and stressing about and which are going to stop you from enjoying yourself in the moment. You’re going to practice dismissing them but to help, you’re also going to disassemble them using restructuring techniques. One example of this is called ‘thought challenging’ which is going to teach you to challenge the validity of your worries or your distractions.

For example, let’s say that you’re worried you didn’t send an email at work. Thought challenging is going to help you overcome this.

First, you ask yourself if there’s anything you can do about it. If not, then what is the good in worrying? In fact, it is more important that you relax and enjoy yourself so that you can be fresh and well to handle the challenges tomorrow. Next, you ask how much it really matters. What is the worst case scenario? Everyone makes mistakes and in all likelihood, your boss isn’t going to be furious – they’ll be understanding.

Does some small part of you think that you’re going to get fired? Then just remind yourself that this is incredibly hard for any business to do legally and it would be worse for them than it would be for you. And after all, if your workplace would fire you so readily, would you really want to be there anyway? Are you worried that people will be mad at you? You made a mistake! So what? And since when do you need to be best friends with your work colleagues?

This is the logical and reasonable reaction to this concern and once you can learn to deconstruct your worries this way, it will allow you to simply forget them and go back to enjoying whatever you’re doing – or remaining calm when you’re under pressure.

Use the Body Scan Meditation

Generally meditating is one of the most important ways to promote mindfulness, calm and self-control.
In his book Tools of Titans, Tim Ferriss looks at the habits and routines of the world’s most successful people. What he finds is that they have a lot of things in common and one of the most prevalent of these commonalities is that they all meditate!

Everyone from Arnold Schwarzenegger, to Tony Robbins, to Elon Musk describe meditation as being a key tool that helped them achieve everything they did. When you meditate, you learn a method to forget your worries and to simply let your mind ‘be’. More importantly though, you develop greater concentration and greater focus which prevents your mind from getting into an anxious mess to begin with!

So how do you begin meditation?

One useful strategy is to start with the body scan technique. To get started, sit somewhere comfortable with your legs crossed and your hands on your knees. Keep your back straight, your chin up and forward and your eyes closed – but make sure you aren’t in a position where you can fall asleep!
Now you’re going to simply ‘scan’ your body by focussing on each part one at a time and then making a note of how it feels and relaxing it. Before that though, you begin with your senses. Listen carefully to the world around you. You’ll find that there are sounds that you have completely blocked out until now and you’ll notice birds tweeting, cars honking, children playing and wind howling.

Feel the temperature of your skin, notice if you’re on a slight gradient and even look at the light as it dances through your eyelids.
Okay, now focus on the top of your head and start to take your attention downward to your cheeks, jaw and then neck and shoulders. Stop at each point and make a note of how it feels: are you carrying any tension? Are you feeling any pain? Release tension in the muscle and then keep moving.

Eventually, you’ll reach the very bottom of your body. At which point you can begin to concentrate on your breathing for a while. Breathing should be ‘belly breathing’, which begins with the gut expanding and then fills the lungs all the way up. Breathing steadily and rhythmically will slow the heart rate via the parasympathetic nervous system and put you in an even calmer state. Finally, bring your attention to just below the navel and hold it there.

This is your center of gravity and concentrating here will ground you.Throughout this process, you might notice your thoughts start to drift from time to time. If this happens, don’t let it concern you. It is normal and not the end of the world – just quietly dismiss those thoughts and then return to the focus.

Finally, repeat the steps in reverse order and bring yourself back around. That was a body scan meditation! This is a powerful tool because it is forcing you to direct your attention and to ignore the outside thoughts. More importantly, it is engaging you with your own body, physicality and surroundings. And when you do this, your sensations become richer and more vivid. Eventually, if you keep practicing this skill, you should get to the point where you can begin to become more mindful and more present at will – even while moving and engaging in other tasks.

That means just taking a moment to actually look at the world around you. Pausing to see what you can hear. And fixing your posture. It means not getting so caught up in your own thoughts that you let life pass you by, or that you live in a constant state of stress and anxiety. Once you can do this, then you will find that nothing can stir you in quiet the same way unless you want it to. You can always just enjoy being in the moment and forget the past and the future for a time.

You can enjoy living and taste the amazing taste of that chocolate biscuit while that email sits there in your outbox completely unsent.

This is the key to happiness: you can choose to react positively instead of negatively. You can choose to view things as a challenge or an amusing hiccup instead of a serious threat. But it is also the key to unlocking your full potential so you perform better and achieve more!

How to Become a Big Blogger

The most important thing you can do to sell more PLR copies will happen long before you actually start making sales. It's the legwork you do before trying to convince someone to buy that will ultimately determine the likelihood that they wíll make a purchase, which means building trust and authority as an important thought leader in your niche.

In other words, if you already have a huge number of fans who love the work you do and who hang off your every word, then you'll find it much easier to get them to buy from you in the future.

So how can you get to that point? Here are some important pointers to help guide the way

Choose a Niche That You're Passionate About

The first thing you need to do to start building trust and influence is to pick a niche that you're absolutely passionate about and that you truly love. This is really important because it is what is going to help you to demonstrate your knowledge. If you pick something you have no interest in, then not only is it going to come across in your lack of true enthusiasm, but you'll also struggle to bring anything genuinely new or useful to the subject.

Deliver High Quality

From there, you need to ensure that you are delivering consistent quality. Whether you write blog posts or make YouTube videos, your job is to ensure that every single thing that people read from you is truly interesting and engaging. That way, you will set a precedent for yourself to assume that all your future work will be as high quality.

Let Them Get to Know You

You don't have to have a personal brand to build trust but it certainly will help. Let your audience feel as though they're getting to know you and you'll find that they are more likely to consider you almost as a friend. And we trust our friends! Social media is great for this.

Invest in Production Values

Thinking of making your own logo in MS Paint? Think again! A highly polished website with professional looking videos will be much more likely to inspire sales versus something that looks like it was cobbled together in your Mum's basement. Invest in yourself with some high-quality production.

The Best Ways to Use Positive Affirmations to Manage Stress

Stress is an inevitable part of life. However, when stress levels remain high, they can start to have a detrimental effect on both your emotional and physical well-being. It is imperative to find ways to manage stress and repeating positive affirmations is a way for you to increase feelings of inner peace, and to combat daily stress. The idea is to take the positive statements of what you want to manifest in your life and repeat them enough that they become a part of how you think and see the world.

Here are some of the best ways to use positive affirmations to help you manage stress.

Repetition

The most popular way that you can harness the power of affirmations is by merely repeating the affirmation to yourself regularly. Saying them out loud to yourself several times a day, in the mornings or evenings, can be incredibly useful. When you repeat them out loud, you hear them more clearly, which can make them more effective than if you were to repeat them to yourself mentally.

Do-It-Yourself Recording

To hear your affirmations more times throughout the day, you can record yourself repeating the positive affirmations and play the recording while you are driving, when you’re reading in the evenings, or when you are exercising. Be sure to talk in a calm voice, and consider playing your favourite soothing music in the background. DIY recordings are a great way to create a tailor-made experience for your specific needs.

Use Post-It Notes

A fun way to utilize your positive affirmations daily is by writing them down on Post-It Notes and placing them around your house to provide you with positive messages throughout the day. You can put them on the refrigerator, your bathroom mirror, and other places that you see frequently. This technique can be incredibly useful on its own, or you can use it with some of the other affirmation techniques as a reinforcement.

Self-Hypnosis

If you want to increase the effectiveness of your positive affirmations dramatically, you can use self-hypnosis with them. Self-hypnosis is a way to cement your affirmations into your subconscious thinking much quicker than merely repeating them when you are in your normal conscious state.

While not all positive affirmations will be helpful in helping you relieve stress, most of them can effectively transition you into a better frame of mind and help you build resilience and help you find enjoyment in your life.

Powerful Tips for Using Affirmations to Get What You Want

Positive affirmations are nothing more than your positive self-talk. They are a powerful tool that you can use to help you develop a successful mindset and get what you want in your life. They are simple and easy to use, and when done correctly they can be incredibly useful. Here are several tips to help you create and use affirmations so you can get what you want in life.

Tip #1 – They Can Be Used Anywhere

The best thing about affirmations is that you can use them anywhere and at any time. For example, if you’re heading into an interview for a new job, you can use a simple affirmation to help you calm your nerves. By relaxing and taking a few deep breaths and repeating affirmations, you will start to relax, and your nervousness will begin to subside.

Tip #2 – Keep Them Short

You want to make sure that you keep your affirmations simple, short, and to the point. Your statements will be more effective when they are quick, one-liners that you can repeat to yourself over and over again. Keeping them short will also help you remember them so that you can repeat them anywhere.

Tip #4 – Keep Them Positive

Our subconscious minds can’t differentiate between a positive and negative affirmation and will take on either one. If you say to yourself, “I am not going to fail this test,” it will only here, “going to fail this test.” To keep your affirmations positive, you should instead say, “I am passing this test.”

Tip #5 – Repeat Them Every Morning

Start to repeat your affirmations every morning to help support your goals for the day. When you wake up in the morning, look at your schedule and come up with the best affirmation that will support the achievement of the goals for the day. After some time, you may find some common positive affirmations that work best for you regularly.

Tip #6 – Record Them in Your Voice

Take the time to make a recording of you repeating your affirmations. You can then listen to the tapes on your way to work or as needed. Consider adding some soothing music to the background to make them even more useful.

Affirmations are an incredibly powerful tool that you can use to help you manifest all your desires. Keep these six tips in mind when you are using your statements to make them more effective.

How to Use Affirmations to Dramatically Change Your Life

When you first start to use positive affirmations, and the Law of Attraction, you begin to realize that you can influence your experiences in life by working on your thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. Positive affirmations allow you to manifest all your heart's desires by believing that what you want is indeed possible and feeling as if they were already yours. If you wish to change your life and attain everything you desire, here's how you can use positive affirmations to reach that goal.

Know What You Want

When it comes to affirmations, you have to know precisely what you want to live a happier life. Are you hoping to land a better job? Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to be able to purchase a new home? Not only do you have to know what you are asking for, but you have to be mindful of how you're asking for it. Too many times, people will list what they don't want. Unfortunately, when your affirmations focus on what you don't want, your subconscious mind will focus on the negatives of your desires.

Know That You Have It

The words you speak aren’t enough to imprint your subconscious with an idea or a vision, but require emotions to be triggered by the words you speak. Your affirmations need to be believable, and you need to consider them possible if you want them to come to fruition. Having negative feelings and emotions will only get in the way when you are trying to receive any positive emotions back. For your affirmations to be effective, you will need to develop techniques that will allow you to overcome these negative emotions.

Feel What You Already Have

If you want to be able to generate a positive emotional state, you have to be able to imagine how it will feel to have achieved your goal. The feelings you have about achieving your goal are what needs to be manifested to generate what you are asking for. You need to be able to understand what this feels like and practice incorporating it when asking for what you want because it is the emotions and feelings that you send out into the universe is that you'll get back.

Making sure that you know what you want, knowing what you have, and feeling that you have reached your goal already, will help you create powerful manifestations that will work for you.

How to Create Positive Affirmations

Whether you believe it or not, you can attract anything in your life that you give attention to, because like attracts like. Positive affirmations are a powerful tool that can make the opposite happen. By believing in a thought or sentence and repeating it to yourself regularly, you have the power to attract more positivity to your life.

Your words are incredibly powerful, and when done correctly, positive affirmations can be an impactful tool that will help you find the power to accomplish things that you didn't think was possible. However, they only work if you believe them. Here's how to create positive affirmations that you can believe in and achieve all your life's greatest desires.

Identify What You Want

To get started writing a positive affirmation for your life, you have to think about what you really want. Think about what would make your life happier and write those thoughts down. The essential part of creating positive affirmations is ensuring that you are completely clear about what you want without worrying about the when or the how.

List the Attributes You’ll Need

When you've identified what you want, the next step is determining the attributes that you'll need to achieve your goal. You should list between four and six things. Your attributes are the things that you need to be, rather than the things that you need to do. Once you've written these out, circle a few that you believe to be the most essential attributes that you will need to embody to reach your goal.

Write Your Affirmation

Once you have your desires and attributes written down, it's time to create your affirmation. You want to create a statement that is between one and two sentences, and that states the goal and attributes in a positive and empowering way. This can be challenging, so you should write down some ideas as they come to you and repeat them out loud.

Practice Your New Affirmation

Now that you’ve created an affirmation, it’s time to practice it and repeat it often. You want to be sure to repeat your affirmations every day. To help you remember to say your statements you set a reminder on your phone, you can set your phone's background to a picture of your affirmation, so you see it every time you use your phone, or you can put them on Post-Its and place them around your home or office. Do whatever works for you.

Affirmations are incredibly helpful in helping you achieve your desires as long as you do them correctly. You have the power to use your mind to create the future you desire.

5 Tips for Successful Affirmations

Affirmations can be an incredibly powerful tool to help you manifest all your desires. However, if they aren't done correctly, they can be a complete waste of time. The key to finding success with your positive affirmations is to have an unshakeable confidence that what you are stating will happen. Here are five more tips that you can use to take your success with affirmations to the next level.

Tip #1 – Be Specific

The more detail you can include in your positive affirmations the more real it will become, and the more believable it is. Just like when you are setting your goals, you need to inform your Reticular Activating System what it is you want to achieve. You need to aim to be as specific as possible. When you can be specific with your affirmations, they can provide you with the motivation and opportunity to get everything you desire.

Tip #2 – Use Active Visualization

It isn't enough to merely read your affirmations off of a card and then quickly move onto the next one. You have to visualize the affirmations. You have to read each affirmation and then spend a few minutes imagining what it will be like when the statement is achieved. Think about what you will see, what you will hear, what smells you'll experience, and what feelings you'll have about the achievement.

Tip #3 – Utilize Audio Motivation

Music can be a potent tool to use with your affirmations. When you read your affirmations, consider listening to some motivational, stirring, or upbeat music. Listening to music can help to stir up the feelings inside you. It is your feelings that generate the internal vibrations that will ultimately move you closer to your desires.

Tip #4 – Use Images

Take the time to overlay your affirmations over some appropriate background pictures. If you aren't skilled in Photoshop, you can just look at relevant images after you've read your statements out loud. When you look at images that are congruent with your affirmations, it will generate some excitement. This excitement will get you vibrating in a positive way that will help you attract your desired outcome.

Tip #5 – Believe That They’ve Already Been Achieved

You always want to state your affirmations in the present tense. For example, instead of saying, “I will lose weight by the end of the month,” say “I’ve reached my ideal weight with ease.” With the Law of Attraction if you say “I want to lose weight,” it hears the words “I want” and will leave you in a constant state of wanting.

Affirmations can work for you when done correctly. Consider these tips when you're creating your affirmations to be successful and manifest all your life's desires.

5 Steps for Writing Your Affirmation Statement

Too many of us go about our days with negative thoughts bouncing around in our heads. Unfortunately, when we think like this, our mood, confidence, and outlook on life can become negative as well. The problems with negative thoughts are they can end up becoming self-fulfilling prophecies. They can end up talking us into believing we aren't good enough, which ultimately results in our personal lives being dragged down. If we can deliberately use positive thoughts about ourselves instead, the effect can be just as powerful. Here are five steps to take to write your own positive affirmation statements.

Think About What You Want to Change

Everyone has something in their life that they would like to change. Do you wish you could have more patience? Do you want to be more productive at work? Consider several areas or behaviours that you would like to work on in your life and write them down. You want to make sure that they are compatible with your core values and those things that matter to you. This will keep you motivated to achieve them.

Make Sure They’re Credible and Achievable

Your affirmation must be based on a realistic assessment of the facts. You need to keep the feasible and realistic because affirmations aren't magic spells. If you can't believe that you will achieve what you are stating, then it is highly unlikely that it will make an impact on your life.

Turn Negatives Into Positives

If you struggle with negative self-talk, take the time to write down the persistent thoughts and beliefs that are bothering you. Then write an affirmation that is the opposite of that belief. For example, if you always think that you aren't talented enough to move ahead in your career, turn it around and write an affirmation like, "I am an experienced and skilled professional."

Write Your Affirmation in the Present Tense

For your affirmation to be effective, you have to write it in the present tense, as if it is already happening to you. Writing in the present tense helps your subconscious to believe that the statement is true.

Say it With Emotion

When your affirmations carry the emotional weight, they will be more effective. You have to want this change to happen, so the statements that you choose to repeat should be something that is meaningful to you. For example, if you are worried about a new project that you have to complete, you can repeat to yourself, "I am incredibly excited to take on a new challenge."

Repeating positive affirmations regularly can help you overcome negative thoughts and help you manifest all your desires. Follow these five simple steps, and you'll have powerful statements that you can use daily.

4 Simple Steps for Making Positive Affirmations Work for You

Positive affirmations are one of the most powerful tools that you can use to create a meaningful, successful, and fulfilling life. Many people have developed powerful affirmations that bring about change in their behaviours and circumstances. When you deliberately use positive affirmations the effect on your life will not only be powerful, but you will have a much higher chance of achieving your goals. If you want to make sure that your positive affirmations work for you, you’ll want to follow these four simple steps.

Start with Daily Affirmations

Start your journey to manifesting all your desires with daily affirmations. Daily affirmations are statements that describe your goals in their completed states. You improve your physical health with regular physical exercises, so you should be using daily affirmations as a mental exercise for your mind, as well as your perception. When you repeat your positive affirmations daily, and you believe in them, you can start to create a positive change in your life.

Visualization

Positive affirmations are much more effective when you use them with dynamic visualization. Combining your affirmations with visualization techniques is a great way to speed up your manifestations. Instead of merely writing your affirmations down and repeating them out loud, you should also visualize the outcome that you want to see. Not only do visual images motivate you and make you feel the changes, but they can also prepare you mentally for the challenges that you will need to overcome during the process of achieving your goals.

Avoid Writing Negative Sentences

In your high school English class, you were taught the difference between affirmative, negative, and interrogative sentences. Stop using negative sentences, like "I no longer suffer from migraines," and consciously convert them into positive affirmations, like "I live a pain-free life." When you try to conceive a negative statement or thought in your mind, you have to convert it to a positive statement if you want it to be effective.

Include Emotions

Powerful and effective affirmations must include content, positivity, and emotion. The content is describing the specific outcome that you are hoping to achieve, while positivity provides for the elimination of negative vibrations. The emotion is what gets to the heart of how you feel about the outcome you're hoping to achieve. If you want more powerful affirmations, you have to include all of these elements.

Affirmations can program your mind and can be a powerful tool for changing your mood, state of mind, and for manifesting a change in your life.

3 Mistakes to Avoid In Your Daily Affirmation Practice

Affirmations can be an incredibly powerful tool that you can use to help you achieve your life's desires. Thousands of people use positive affirmations to obtain success and realize their dreams. However, there are just as many who practise affirmations but never see results. This might be because they are not using them correctly. Here are three mistakes you want to avoid in your daily affirmation practice if you want them to work for you.

Giving Up Too Early

With affirmations, consistency is incredibly important. Once you get started with your practice, the repetition has a lasting effect that will continue to build upon itself. Repeating your affirmations daily make it much easier to maintain. Plus, every time you say the statement you significantly magnify the results. The mistake that many people make is that they give up the process entirely too early. When you give up too soon, you don't give the affirmations enough time to set into your subconscious.

Using a Different Affirmation Each Day

Using a different affirmation every day is like trying to work on a dozen various projects at once. Since each project requires your energy and attention, you can't help but shift your focus and effort from project to project. However, if you want to see results right away, then you have to focus on just one affirmation and stick with it. When it comes to affirmations, it is all about focus. To make your affirmations effective, you have to use the same affirmation daily for at least 30 days.

Lack of Attention Mastery

If you've been using positive affirmations for a while and have yet to achieve results, and you've tried everything else, it could mean that you aren't entirely focusing your attention on the affirmation. The reality is that most people have incredibly short attention spans, and they are distracted continuously like toddlers. To make your statements work for you, you have to master your attention span, which only comes with practice. By practising your positive affirmations daily, you can learn how to master your attention. When you can learn how to master your attention, you will start to master your manifestations.

If you haven’t had success with your daily affirmations yet, don’t worry, you just have to make a few simple changes to your daily practice. Avoid the mistakes listed above, and you’ll quickly find success with using affirmations to achieve everything you desire.

How to Make Your Fitness Goals a Reality

Many of us would like to be thinner, more toned or more physically fit. Almost all of us feel that we could look better if we fitted into our clothes a little better and many feel that this would also give them a boost in confidence and general self-esteem.

The problem is making that happen. Because if you’re like the vast majority of people, then you’ve probably tried different diet programs and training regimes in the past without much success. What can you do to ensure that this is a different story? That this time things go to plan? Here are some pointers that can help you craft the body you’re looking for…

  • Slow and Steady

The longest journey starts with a single step and the biggest biceps start with a single curl. The big issue that a lot of people have when it comes to setting their fitness goals, is that they make them far too ambitious. If you’re starting a diet that involves eating absolutely no carbs, or if you’re starting a training regime that involves working out for an hour and a half 5 times per week, then you’re going to struggle to adapt your lifestyle. Instead, use the ‘MED’ or ‘Minimum Effective Dose’ and then make sure that you don’t work harder than necessary in the gym.

  • Set Yourself Up for Success

So that means taking up one of those easier workouts right? The ones that cram a short HIIT workout in after your work hours for example?

Maybe you’re tempted by the various different diet programs that claim they include meals that only take 10 minutes to prepare.

Be wary! While many of these programs sound quick, what they fail to mention is:

  • The time it takes to get to the gym
  • The extra washing that you have to do after training at home
  • The time it takes to shower after the workout
  • The time it takes to get back home
  • How tired you’ll be following your workouts and how this is going to impact your subsequent productivity

Likewise, those diet plans forget:

  • The time/money involves in acquiring all those exotic ingredients
  • The prep time: chopping those onions, pre-heating the oven etc.
  • The time it takes to wash up afterwards
  • The fact that sometimes ingredients won’t be available, or you’ll have guests round

The point is: even the easiest routine is going to include hidden elements that end up taking up more time and stress. So your job is to try and edit the guidelines to fit your lifestyle and your routine specifically.

That might mean, for example, that you’re going to work out from home instead of at the gym. That way you can train in your underwear, meaning no more washing and meaning you’ll get less sweaty. It means you don’t have to travel too.

Likewise, think about recipes that will be genuinely easy to make and the tools and appliances that can help make them even easier still. Smoothies are more work than they sound because of the washing up – so try a NutriBullet!
